Bożena Wojtanowska

I paint in Tarnów, Poland. I work in several techniques at once, and that is a deliberate choice — oil and acrylic let me build large, strong compositions, pastel gives a softness paint cannot reach, and linocut forces decisions: every cut in the block is final.

Some works combine these approaches. A linocut print enters a painted ground; fragments of paper build the texture of a collage. Those paintings are best seen up close — a photograph cannot convey what happens on the surface.

Thematically I return to two things: the human being and what goes on inside — hence the Inner Spaces, Ecce Homo and Labyrinth of Emotions series — and nature, particularly birds and the landscape around Tarnów.

The paintings can be seen in person at the studio. I also take commissions, tailored to a specific interior.
